Black Spruce essential oil is steam distilled from the needles and twigs of Canadian Black Spruce trees. Similar to the Eastern Hemlock variety, but a little more ‘deep forest’ in aroma, whereas the Hemlock has a brighter ‘Christmas tree’ scent. The aroma is both calming and elevating

AROMA: Sweeter, and softer than most evergreen oils with a balsamic, resinous odor with green woody notes. Overall, the scent is very clean, fresh and pleasant.

HISTORY OF USE

Black Spruce is a naturally growing tree in Canada. It is typically found in wet, swampy areas where the wild growing trees can grow up to 15 meters in height.  Spruce oil is milder and gentler than other evergreen oils, and is known to be a fantastic pain reliever and decongestant. Enjoy an inviting fragrance of evergreen, freshly fallen snow, and sweet wood as you clarify the lungs and ease tension in the body.

The Black Spruce, talked about here, is native to North America but probably came about due to natural hybridization of a closely related spruce, the Red Spruce.

The Native Americans used Spruce for medicinal, spiritual and practical reasons.
