Broom Absolute oil also known as Genet absolute is a small decorative shrub that displays small flowers from late spring. The concrete is produced from the fresh flowers and the absolute is obtained by solvent extracting the concrete.

Broom/Genet Absolute Oil is extracted from the flowers of broom by the solvent extraction method. It is a dark brown semi-solid liquid. Broom is the English name of Cytisus scoparius (which is also known as Genista scoparia), native to Western Europe. Broom has thick, slender green stems and very small leaves, which are adaptations to dry climatic conditions. It belongs to the group of evergreen, semi-evergreen, and deciduous shrubs of the legume family fabaceae. Broom/Genet Absolute Oil works wonderfully in disinfecting the body if taken internally and can cure the infections of internal organs. It provides softness to the body muscles. It is highly effective in driving away negative thoughts.

HISTORY OF USE

Also known as Spanish broom, it is a species of flowering plant in the family Fabaceae native to the Mediterranean in the south of Europe.  Due to its floral aroma, it is extensively used in aromatherapy for treating pain, stress, mental fatigue and depression. As a heraldic device, the Broom was adopted at a very early period as the badge of Brittany. Geoffrey of Anjou thrust it into his helmet at the moment of going into battle, that his troops might see and follow him. As he plucked it from a steep bank which its roots had knit together he is reputed to have said: ‘This golden plant, rooted firmly amid rock, yet upholding what is ready to fall, shall be my cognizance. I will maintain it on the field, in the tourney and in the court of justice.’

Fragrance Impact:  Sweet, green, floral, and honey-like.

Botanical Name:  Spartium Junceum

Description:  The aroma is sweet honey floral, fresh tea rose floral, with a joyous dark fruit floral note comparable to orange blossom entwined with hay and tobacco nuances.

Properties:  The honey-rose notes are particularly useful in certain types of rose bases, tuberose, cassie, mimosa, violet, honeysuckle, etc. It blends excellently with ionones, vetiver, castoreum, etc. in “tabac” notes, and it is generally useful in modern aldehydic perfume types, green notes, etc.

Uses:  The oil is used in perfumery around the world.

Characteristics:  This absolute is golden brown in colour and of a waxy consistency that becomes pourable with gentle warmth.

Production Method: Solvent or CO2 Extraction

In foods and beverages, Broom Genet Absolute is used as flavouring. In manufacturing, Broom Genet is used as a fragrance in soaps and cosmetics. It is also useful as a colour dye.
